That’s Unique

Every Friday Heart of the Matter has a different meme topic. This week it’s “What makes you unique?”

I wrote a serious post about this on my Counter-cultural Mom blog. Part of the point, though, is to get to know one another better, so I thought I would write another post here, just for fun.

Here are a few things that are unique about me:

1) I don’t know what the word “meme” means. I don’t know how to pronounce it, either. Is it “Meeeeeeem”? Or “me-me”? or “May may”?

2) This lack of knowledge keeps me up at night.

3) I am a grammar queen. The second sentence in this post disturbs me, because I am not sure if it should be written, This week it’s “What makes you unique?” OR This week it’s “What makes you unique?”.

4) I am unable to smell skunk. Never have been.

5) My husband and I love coffee, to the point that we don’t just grind our own beans, but we even roast our own beans. Yes, our garage often smells like Starbucks. What’s next? Perhaps growing the beans out back?! Don’t think we haven’t talked about it!

6) I am directionally challenged. I can almost always choose to go the opposite way I think I should be heading and end up right where I am supposed to be. When I go with my gut, I end up lost.

7) My husband says I am blind in my mind’s eye. This means I cannot look at a bunch of parts and envision what the whole should look like. This explains why I am not very crafty.

8) Strange things always happen to me. On our last vacation, I was the one who came face to face with a shark while snorkeling. This is typical for me (not the sharks, per se, but the number of times I have been involved in rare, random events like that). Some of my friends call these events, “Molly stories”.

9) I have four boys. It has been over 65 years since a girl was born on my husband’s side of the family, so we haven’t been holding our breath for one!

10) I love Celine Dion. It’s true! I bought tickets to her 2009 concert….in 2007. I’m embarrassed to admit it, but if I could find a pink I Heart Celine t-shirt, I would totally wear one to the concert.

Comments

  1. I like that phrase…”blind in my mind’s eye”! That totally describes me, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. It’s meme, said like “theme”. It’s an idea or theme spread throughout many! Hope you can sleep better now!!! I too am directionally challenged! My husband hates it when I have to drive somewhere I don’t know! Nice meeting you :p

  3. Ha! I never knew how to pronounce that either. I was saying “may-may” in my head ๐Ÿ™‚

You are SO lucky you can’t smell skunk. I hope you can smell other things though – good things ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck in the girl department! I have 4 girls and 1 boy. You never know….
