Something that I’ve found very helpful to keep my boys’ interest in nature study going now that they’re older (15 & 16) is their involvement in Boy Scouts – their monthly camping trips (in all seasons) has given them an intimacy with the natural world, and expands their knowledge in a way that supplements the books we read and the walks we took when they were younger.
