My dad was killed in a motorcycle accident in August, just a month before he was to come and visit us and take his turn sharing memories. I feel your pain.

I am hoping to get his sister to record some memories for me on his behalf.

Unfortunately, she had a serious fall which led to one medical complication after another. By the time I tried to get her to tell me some of the stories again, she lacked the ability to verbalize them to me. She passed away soon afterward. Not only am I grieving the loss of my mother, but also that I missed the opportunity to have these memories recorded in some way. This is a great project for kids, and a great way for them to come to really know and appreciate their grandparents. It’s a tremendous way to “see” their elders and their accomplishments, instead of just to view them as old people. Thanks for sharing about this. Makes me think (which is always a good thing).
