I’m glad I planned to stay in for Black Friday! All the kids and I have had strep throat. Our big Thanksgiving plans were canceled and, as it turns out, I was too sick to do anything on Black Friday besides lay in bed. My husband still hit the stores, though, and came back victorious!
Fortunately, a few of my favorite places to shop are offering sales through the weekend. I often buy books from Book Closeouts. Their prices are excellent all year-round, but their Black Friday sale (which ends at midnight on Monday night) is incredible! All of their fiction is 75% off right now, and shipping is free if you spend $35 or more. Believe me, that’s not as easy as it sounds with these rock bottom prices.
Here is a sample of what I bought this weekend from Book Closeouts. I’ve been needing a copy of Ben Hur for school this spring, and got one for $1.74. I couldn’t resist Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers dramatized play on Audio CD for just $4.99. They often have unusual items, too, like this recording of Tolkien reading excerpts of his work in his own voice for $2.99. My dad, a huge Tolkien fan, is going to love this!
There are four pages of Narnia related books, including beginning readers for as little as $2.49, unabridged books on CD such as this audio recording of Prince Caspian for $11.99, visual companion movie tie-in books and even unabridged Narnia books in Spanish.
Even their non-sale books are a deal, like the Shakespeare Stealer series bound in one volume for $6.99. There’s lots of junk in the mix, but I enjoy searching for my favorite authors by name, and checking out the Children’s classics section a few times a year.
Our favorite site for notbooking is also having a big sale. If you aren’t familiar with the practice of notebooking, check out this Quick Start Guide on my Counter-cultural Mom blog. Cindy Rushton allowed me to share her audio on Getting Started with Notebooking, as well as downloads of Sample pages and examples.
The Black Friday event at Notebooking Pages ends tonight (Sunday). So go there today to get 35% off all their available products and combos!
Our favorite is the North American Birds set, which is selling for just $5.82 today! We use this set to make our own field guides and to color our favorite birds. This is the best set for birds that I’ve found…the kids love studying the range maps and coloring those in, and it is fun to have a place to jot down some notes about the birds.
Debra has added a new Tropical Birds set for just $3.87 which I’m planning to get today. We’ve also been enjoying the Ancient Times notebooking set this year. As always, Notebooking Pages continues to offer many helpful Free Resources, as well, so be sure to check those out, too!
